VISITORS' DAY

We are so excited to host camper families and visitors onsite on Sunday, July 21st between 11AM and 3PM. Keep reading for everything you need to know to ensure a successful visit!

ALTERNATIVE VISITORS' DAY

If there are special circumstances that prevent you from visiting on the designated date, please contact the office and we will be happy to try to schedule a virtual visit or make alternative arrangements.

Campers who do not have Visitors will be supervised by our staff. Alternatively, parents can arrange for their children to spend the day with another family.

STAYING IN SUDBURY

Some families choose to stay in Sudbury the night before or the night after Visitors' Day. This is not mandatory, but does break up the long drives. Solelim does its best to negotiate favourable rates, but we have no control over any terms and conditions determined by hotel administration, including access to late checkout and other special accommodations.

TRANSPORTATION TO & FROM CAMP

Due to parking constraints, families cannot drive into camp. All visitors will be bussed from Four Corners in Sudbury. Please meet at Food Basics (1875 Regent Street South): the shuttles to camp will depart at 10:30 AM.

The buses will drive into camp and visitors will assemble on our Sports Field. Once all the buses have arrived, campers will be brought to the field camp to greet their visitors. Please be patient – we need to ensure that all the buses have cleared the roads before allowing people to walk freely around camp.

Buses will shuttle visitors back to Four Corners Plaza starting at 2:30 PM. Please respect our end time and load the buses quickly so that we can transition back to regular camp programming.

PROGRAMMING & FOOD

Visitors will have the opportunity to see their camper's tent, meet our incredible staff, sample camp activities, see some performances, and spend quality time catching up with their camper.

A BBQ lunch (with vegetarian options) will be served onsite along with salads, sides and sweets made by our amazing kitchen team.

We have a limited number of picnic benches around camp for families to eat at. Families are encouraged to bring a picnic blanket as we have plenty of green space to spread out on. Please help keep Solelim clean (and bear free!) by placing garbage in the appropriate bins.

Additional treats will also be available for purchase at our tuck shop. Please bring cash in small denominations ($1, $2 and $5) if you are interested in purchasing something at the tuck shop.

Families can bring outside food in; however, we ask that you be respectful of our nut-aware facility. For the safety of our campers, please do not bring any products that list nuts or may contain nuts in the ingredients.

Campers and visitors must remain on camp property during Visitors’ Day.

CARE PACKAGES

Campers often write home with long wish lists of treats and items they want from home. We understand the desire to want to spoil them with things they miss while away at camp. Nonetheless, we respectfully ask that you continue to follow our Food and Package Policy. Please do not bring anything for your camper that is on the Do Not Pack List. Items found that are on this list will be confiscated and donated (including phones!).

Please do not leave any food with your camper. Food in tents attract insects and animals. Additionally, outside food poses a serious safety concern as many campers have life threatening allergies. Bottled water of any kind, and cases of pop are strictly banned and will be confiscated.

PHONES

Campers often request their phones be brought to camp. We strongly discourage parents/guardians from bringing campers’ phones to camp as the spirit of the day is to connect with their families, not to check their social media profiles.

If you do choose to bring your camper’s phone to camp, it must go home with you. If campers try to sneak their phones into camp after Visitors’ Day, their phones will be donated to a local shelter.

OTHER IMPORTANT REMINDERS

  • Our staff work as a team. Please do not tip camp staff. Instead, please consider donating to our staff appreciation fund.

  • Camp Solelim is a smoke free environment. Thank you for not smoking on our camp site.

  • Dogs are welcome for Visitors’ Day. Please keep your furry friend on a leash and provide any necessary scooping of poop.
