CAMP SOLELIM IS HIRING AN ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR
Camp Solelim is looking for an Associate Director to join its leadership team in the summer of 2018. The Associate Director will assist the Camp Director in overseeing camp operations and daily camp life. As an integral member of the camp leadership team, you will oversee food services, health services, camp logistics, programming supplies, financial recording, human resources, camp administration and programming support.
About Camp Solelim
Camp Solelim is a six-week Jewish leadership camp for 14 and 15 year old boys and girls. Its unique character stems from a program specifically designed to meet the needs and interests of this age group. Camp Solelim, a non-profit children’s summer camp, was established in 1965 as part of the Canadian Young Judaea Jewish youth movement. The camp is located on Clearwater Lake, approximately 12 km southwest of Sudbury in Northern Ontario and the year-round office is located in Toronto. Solelim’s mission is to provide campers with two incredibly fun and memorable summers within a pluralistic Jewish and Zionist environment. Our goals include: nurturing Jewish identity and values; fostering a sense of pride and knowledge in Israel; creating a singular sense of community where each camper is accepted and thrives; fostering independence and personal growth; and building leaders.
Commitment
The Associate Director position is a seven-week summer commitment beginning the last week of June and continuing to the middle of August. There will also be minimal commitment during the camp off-season for staff interviews, meetings, trainings and special events.
Job Responsibilities

Maintain a safe, sanitary and organized environment for campers and staff throughout camp

Act as a positive role model for campers and staff, demonstrating Camp Solelim’s values in performing job duties

Supervise food and health services

Supervise the requisition of programming supplies for all camp activities and programming

Work with external contractors and vendors to maintain clean, attractive, safe, functional facilities and food service equipment that meet or exceed Ontario Camping Association standards, Health Codes and Camp Solelim standards Organize logistics and supplies for all camper outings and trips

Supervise camp office operations

Record daily financial activities

Attend meetings and staff training as required

Additional duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Camp Director
​Our ideal candidate has graduated from university or college and has some level of experience working at camp or in a similar environment. We are looking for someone who is exceptionally well organized, capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously, is detailed oriented, thrives in a team environment and has a passion for Jewish camp.
